<p>“This inaugural vintage of Reserve Zinfandel from Stone Tree Vineyard imparts aromatics of violet, raspberry and spice leading to a palate of intense blackberry, vanilla, and plum, and finishes with lingering fruit and dark chocolate flavors.” <em>~Ray Einberger, Winemakers</em> </p>
<p><strong>About This Wine</strong> </p>
<p>The 2005 Stone Tree Vineyard Reserve Zinfandel and the 2005 Beverly Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Franc are the first vineyard-designated wines from Columbia Crest and represent the very best of vintage and varietal from select vineyard sites across the Columbia Valley as picked each year by Winemaker Ray Einberger. Future vineyard-designated wines will vary vineyard sites and varietals to match the high standards of the program.</p>
<p><b>Growing Season</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>Harvest commenced as one of the earliest on record.</li>
<li>Warm summer months contributed to the uniformity of berry maturation.</li>
<li>A temperature drop in late summer cooled the vineyards and allowed the grapes extra hang time to enhance flavor and aromatic development.</li>
<li>Moderate weather conditions during harvest contributed to mature fruit with intense flavors, good sugar development, and high natural acidity across varietals.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Vineyards</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>The fruit for this Reserve Zinfandel is picked by hand from Stone Tree Vineyard on Wahluke Slope.</li>
<li>Hot summer days, warm evenings, a low yielding vineyard site, and the scoon silt loam soil provide a unique terroir for Zinfandel. </li>
</ul>
<p><b>Vinification</b> </p>
<ul>
<li>Hand-picked grapes were held separately for vinification.</li>
<li>Grapes were aggressively fermented and aged in new and older oak barrels to maintain their special fruit quality.</li>
<li>300 cases were produced.</li>
